Task2 Textual analysis of 2 magazines

Front Page-

Media Kit

The readers is 78% male, 44.7% college educated and 67% african american. This magazine is popular amongst them groups mainly because alot of hip-hop artist are african americans. The age group that dominantly buys the magazine is 29% of 25-29 year olds and 83% of 21year olds and older.. It sells for $5.99 which in english pounds is £4.82. The reader can get the magazine from clubs, online, onstage and in retail stores. XXL claim to 'speak to the rap-music generation' and is 'part of a movement and helped build XXL to become the No.1 most influential brand in the rap media'. As well as that XXL had got a great status as 'the most respected hip-hop music magazine by both consumers and the industry alike'. The monthly page views is 5,381,435.

The average weekly reach for mixmag is 5,728,000. The employment status is 25% unemployed and 70% employed. The relationship status is 18% married and 73% single. The education status is 34% post grad and 64% in university. The social grade is 22% C1 and 46% AB. It is read by more men at 77% and women at 23%. The average age is 24. The magazine is worldwide and is read , 31% in UK, 17% US, and 11% France.

  1. This is a decent start but it needs to be expanded using full sentences and fully explained analysis, rather than the bullet point approach. You also need to address Task 2B on audience and publisher. And you need to do a case study of another magazine. Vanessa
